Child's Play is a charity organization set up by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins in 2003. The charity helps kids in 70 hospitals around the world by collecting donations and raising money through the gaming community. Over the length of its existence, Child's Play has raised a total of $25,000,000, almost a third of which was earned last year alone.
Child’s Play works in two ways. With the help of hospital staff, Child's Play set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, books, and other fun stuff for kids. Child’s Play also receives cash donations throughout the year. With those cash donations, they purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience.
